The Neuroscience Institute at Georgia State University invites applications for the position of full-time Lecturer to begin August 2019. GSU is an innovative university located in downtown Atlanta and enjoys a diverse student body, including approximately 50,000 students from more than 170 countries. The Neuroscience Institute anticipates recruiting a broadly trained faculty member who can contribute effectively to undergraduate teaching and service. We have particular teaching needs for courses supporting the B.S. in Neuroscience, such as Principles of Neuroscience II, Professional Development in Neuroscience, and Scientific Method in Neuroscience. This nine-month salaried position with full state benefits and eligibility for promotion includes a service component, such as creating/managing internships and curriculum development, and has options for additional salary through summer teaching in various Neuroscience Institute programs.

A Ph.D. in neuroscience or a related field at the time of hire and experience with teaching undergraduate neuroscience-related coursework are required. Our department is committed to developing a culturally diverse faculty who reflect our student body, so members of minority groups are particularly encouraged to apply. Applicants with demonstrated effectiveness in teaching diverse students are also of particular interest. Applicants should submit 1) a letter of application that discusses their professional accomplishments, future goals and philosophy of teaching a diverse student body, and includes the names and contact information for three references, 2) curriculum vitae, and 3) evidence of teaching effectiveness (e.g., evaluations of instructor, learning outcomes data, and pedagogical publications). Applications can be submitted electronically in PDF format to nisearchcommittee1@gsu.edu or by hard copy to Chair, Lecturer Search Committee, Neuroscience Institute, PO Box 5030, Georgia State University, Atlanta, GA 30302-5030. Review of applications will begin immediately and will continue until the position is filled. Application received by March 31, 2019 will receive full consideration.
